Starbucks of Poop Coffee

Kopi Luwak also known as Civet Coffee has a rather unusual cultivation method. One of the world's rarest and most expensive coffees, Kopi Luwak is renowned for its complex flavors. Before you decide to go to your local Starbucks and order a cup consider this: It is pooped out a cat's butt. The Civet cat looks more like a drunken mating between a ferret and a raccoon than a house cat but that is the name that stuck.
Somewhere in Indonesia a rather unusual connection was made. Civet cats love coffee cherries. People love coffee. Let's make coffee from the beans that this cat poops out. The Civet cat's digestive processes are said to add the special flavor, YUMMY!! The digestive juices and enzymes break down the proteins that give other coffees their bitter taste.
If you decide to try Kopi Luwak coffee know that it has been much researched. The beans are lightly roasted to kill any bacteria before the beans are ground into coffee. Special analysis by labs have surprisingly showed roasted Kopi Luwak beans have lower bacterial levels than normal coffee. Scientific study of the chemical compounds in the cat poop coffee also reveal how completely different Kopi Luwak coffee is. This might account for the incredible taste.
Also, before you head to your local coffee place know your trip might be in vain. There are only 1000 pounds produced a year. This rarity and increasing world demand have pushed prices to about $450-$600 a pound or $50 dollars a cup.
Most people if they are going to spend $600 dollars on a pound of Kopi Luwak want the real thing. This is a matter of concern as scam artists have been passing off coffee digested by humans as the real thing. Experts suggest ordering the beans still unroasted in the cat poop as proof. This adds to the experience because you get the smell and later the joy of picking the poop from under your fingernails. I suggest you clean under your fingernails as soon as you extract the beans to avoid any contamination and maybe brush your teeth after drinking. Your significant other will appreciate it!
It has been rumored Starbucks keeps cat poop coffee on hand for in-house tastings. I called five Starbucks and they didn't have it for sale. Most didn't even know what is was. We must DEMAND cat poop coffee.

The History Of Kopi Luwak Coffee

Coffee grows in dozens of countries around the world. Some varieties have earned a special reputation, often based on a combination of rarity, unusual circumstances and particularly good flavor. These coffees, from Jamaican Blue Mountain to Kona to Tanzanian Peaberry, command a premium price. But perhaps no coffee in the world is in such short supply, has such unique flavors and an, um, interesting background as Kopi Luwak. And no coffee even comes close in price: Kopi Luwak sells for $375.00 Per Pound.

Kopi (the Indonesian word for coffee) Luwak comes from the islands of Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi (formerly Celebes), which are part of the Indonesian Archepelago's 13,677 islands (only 6,000 of which are inhabited). But it's not strictly the exotic location that makes these beans worth their weight in silver. It's how they're "processed."

On these Indonesian islands, there's a small marsupial called the paradoxurus, a tree-dwelling animal that is part of the sibet family. Long regarded by the natives as pests, they climb among the coffee trees eating only the ripest, reddest coffee cherries.

The Poop Coffee

Poop Coffee???

Did you know...
You probably have heard of regular coffee, decaf. coffee, flavored coffee and even chocolate coffee beans but  do you know about  poop coffee?

The most expensive coffee in the world is produced with the help of the Asian Palm Civet.  This animal  looks like an overgrown cat and is native to Indonesia, Mayasia and other surrounding countries.  It selects and swallows the highest quality coffee beans and only digests the outer coating, leaving the seed to be collected from its droppings or its daily releases.   think you know what I mean!
Digestive enzymes in the Palm Civet alters the flavor to  produce a very rich and chocolaty taste coffee.  This coffee is highly prized in this area but you will not find this type of coffee in your local food market.

The Formosan rock monkey also creates poop coffee!  The monkey eats the ripe coffee beans off the trees and spits out the seeds.  The seeds are collected and roasted to produce coffee that is brewed in Taiwan.

Kopi Muncak is another poop coffee and is collected in the wild forest of Malaysia and Indonesia from the Muntjac ( barkiing deer).

You may say that poop coffee is 100% organic!

Kinds of Coffee drinks

Here's a look at seven of the more popular coffee drinks available at most discriminating coffee houses, and how to best enjoy them.

Espresso

Espresso is a strong black coffee made by forcing steam through dark-roast aromatic coffee beans at high pressure in an espresso machine. A perfectly brewed espresso will have a thick, golden-brown crema (foam) on the surface. If the crema is good, the sugar you add will float on the surface for a couple of seconds before slowly sinking to the bottom.

Espresso is the foundation for a wide variety of specialty coffee drinks, such as the cappuccino, but many aficionados and purists insist that adding anything (besides a bit of sugar) is blasphemy, akin to Scotch lovers mixing their single malt with Coke.

How to have it: Espresso should be taken either on its own or with a small teaspoon of sugar. Having it "short" means that it has less water and is therefore more concentrated, and "long" conversely uses more water and does not taste as strong.

Give it a twist: Adding a dollop of steamed milk creates an espresso macchiato ("macchiato" means stained or marked). Topping an espresso with whipped cream makes it an espresso con panna. Espresso corretto (which translates to "corrected") is made by adding a splash of grappa, cognac or sambuca.

Content of Substances in Coffee

Substances contained in coffee is caffeine.
Caffeine is an alkaloid chemical compound known as trimetilsantin with molecular formula C8H10N4O2. The amount of caffeine content in coffee is 1-1.5%, while the tea from 1 to 4.8%. Caffeine works in the body to take over the adenosine receptor
in the nerve cells that will spur the production of adrenal hormones.

Caffeine is a bitter, white crystalline xanthine alkaloid that is a psychoactive stimulant drug. Caffeine was discovered by a German chemist, Friedrich Ferdinand Runge, in 1819. He coined the term ''kaffein'', a chemical compound in coffee, which in English became ''caffeine''.
Caffeine is found in varying quantities in the beans, leaves, and fruit of some plants, where it acts as a natural pesticide that paralyzes and kills certain insects feeding on the plants. It is most commonly consumed by humans in infusions extracted from the cherries of the coffee plant and the leaves of the tea bush, as well as from various foods and drinks containing products derived from the kola nut. Other sources include yerba mate, guarana berries, and the Yaupon Holly.

Benefits of Coffe

Here are nine reasons to start the day with this healing drink.
  • It may lower your risk of death.
We're all going to die eventually, but coffee appears to lengthen the "when" for individuals with certain chronic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes, according to a large 2012 study. In fact, the study found that the more coffee (three or more cups a day), the lower the risk of death regardless of whether participants drank caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee. Findings were similar to another large study published in 2008.
  • It helps make your reproductive systems happy.
Guys, if you're looking for a drink to lower your risk of prostate cancer, and ladies lower your risk of endometrial cancer, then keep that coffee habit going! A 2011 study found that men consuming at least six or more cups a day reduced their risk of prostate cancer by 20 percent! Another study published in the Journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention found that women who drank more than four cups of coffee a day had a 25 percent lower risk of endometrial cancer.
  • It can help lower your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
A 2012 study found that a compound in coffee actually helped to block a substance in the body called human islet amyloid polypeptide that may play a role in the development of diabetes. Further studies have demonstrated that caffeinated coffee consumption is linked to decreased diabetes risk as well.
  • It helps protect your brain.
Coffee drinkers are more likely to resist development of dementia and Alzheimer's later in life according to a 2009 study . Another study done on rats found that just the smell of coffee helped to reduce stress that was associated with loss of sleep. So, if you're smiling next time you roll out of bed and walk toward the coffee pot, there may be a reason why!
  • It could help you recover after colon surgery.
If you've ever had surgery, you know one big sign of recovery is the return of bowel function. One study found that coffee consumption helped to speed this recovery sign when compared to water drinkers.
  • It's great for your skin.
Drinking coffee may help you to ward off the most diagnosed form of skin cancer! A study in the journal Cancer Research that looked specifically at the caffeine in coffee demonstrated that coffee drinkers had a lower risk of developing basal cell carcinoma.
  • It may help to reduce your risk of oral cancer.
Although studies on coffee consumption and decreased risk of cancer are limited, a recent large study found that individuals who drank four or more cups of coffee a day had a 50 percent lower risk of death from oral cancers in a 25-year time frame.
  • It may help you strengthen your muscles -- and your DNA.
A study in the journal Cell Metabolism found that caffeine actually had a similar effect to our DNA molecules in our muscles as exercise (now, this does not mean you can stop exercising). The study looked specifically at DNA changes of muscles in sedentary individuals and found that positive effects from coffee were similar to effects derived from exercise. The most interesting factor in the study was the fact that these positive changes were seen rather quickly.
