Although coffee helps us wake up and keeps us concentrated, it does
have some side effects on our bodies. Sure, one cup of coffee a day will
do you no harm, but having too much of it could. Here are coffee side
effects for women you should pay attention to.
1. Addiction
Whether you want to believe it or not, coffee does cause addiction.
You don’t have to drink 20 cups of coffee a day to consider yourself
being addicted. As long as you can’t get through a single day without
coffee, you’ve developed a minor addiction. People with more serious
addiction to coffee can experience nervousness, hand tremble, cold
sweats and even anger until they get their dose.
2. Insomnia
Having too much coffee will meddle with your sleep, especially if
you’re drinking coffee in the evening. Sure, there are people that claim
that coffee doesn’t have that effect on them, but you know what –
that’s even worse. It means that you are already having too much coffee
and your body is building resistance towards it. Caffeine keeps you
awake. Too much coffee causes insomnia, restlessness and overall bad
sleep.
3. High Blood Pressure
Caffeine increases your blood pressure. The effect is temporary, but
if you drink a lot of coffee, it can cause permanent high blood
pressure. You can feel the effects of your blood pressure rising by
experiencing ringing in your ears and headaches. If you’re having these
problems, you might want to think about switching to decaf.
4. High Cholesterol
Drinking unfiltered coffee is said to increase the levels of your
total cholesterol (both HDL and LDL) and triglycerides. Over years, this
may increase the risk of having a heart attack. Generally speaking,
coffee is linked to higher risks of heart diseases and it is absolutely
not recommended for people who are already having heart problems.
5. Dehydration
It is a common fact that for every cup of coffee you drink, you need
two cups of water just to compensate for the fluids you’ve lost. Coffee
causes dehydration and unless you make up for the water you’ve lost it
can lead to headaches and nausea.
6. Cellulites
Even though a lot of anti cellulites products contain coffee,
drinking it can actually increase the risk of developing cellulites.
Caffeine in the coffee dehydrates you and makes your body hold the water
it already has. Holding water is the most common cause of cellulites.
7. Osteoporosis
Drinking more than three cups of coffee a day for years can lead to
decreased bone density. This means that you will be in a higher risk of
developing osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is an illness lots of women suffer
from and it causes fragile bones. Keep your coffee amount to three cups
a day tops.
8. PMS
Scientists have discovered that women who are generally prone to
having strong PMS can experience it even stronger due to drinking
coffee. This side effect of coffee is unfortunately also a side effect
of eating chocolate. I’m sorry ladies – but if you want to get rid of
your PMS, it’s a no on two things we love the most.
9. Panic Attacks
Due to the fact that caffeine causes addiction, not having the amount
your body is used to can cause panic attacks. Caffeine actually induces
the so called “fight or flight” mechanism in our bodies. High
consumption however, reduces that mechanism to panic attacks. You start
to sweat, your hands start to shake and you expect bad things to happen
to you.
10. Emotional Fatigue
Caffeine wakes you up and gives your body more energy. However, what
it doesn’t do is let your body rest. Having too much coffee will make
you run around and feel like you can do so much more. But, since your
body does need rest, once you actually sit down and stop working, you
might feel even more tired and emotionally drained then without coffee.
These are the 10 coffee side effects every woman should pay attention
to. Coffee does bring you a lot of benefits, but you must not neglect
the bad things. It would be best if you could limit your coffee to just
one cup in the morning.
